When I was in high school, I was a junk food junkie.
At the tender age of 16 I weighed 180 pounds & was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. I was an absolute mess, but I slowly made changes - I stopped drinking soda & eating candy. Then I added in a few more healthy items & swapped my giant caramel machiattos for black coffee. I lost about 10 pounds but continued to struggle - plus I was taking Metformin for blood sugar, Adderall for focus & Wellbutrin for depression. A total mess.

At some point circa age 19, thanks to a sunrise mountaintop epiphany, I realized that I didn't want to spend my life popping pills & feeling uncomfortable in my body. I started researching wellness & healthy eating. I got super into raw vegan living - 80% of the time, but I still ate meat - and I discovered yoga.

Long story short I lost & kept off about 40 pounds, and eliminated ALL of my medication. More amazingly, despite some blood sugar concerns during my pregnancy, I controlled my diet & stayed off Metformin. I gained & lost 50 pounds AGAIN, using the knowledge from my early 20s. My blood sugar & A1C are currently perfect, and I'm 39 now, with a beautiful 3 year old girl.
